Although Shyamalan has used villain protagonists earlier than, Lure can be his first putting a needed serial killer in a task historically reserved for everyman motion heroes in movies like Die Onerous or Sudden Demise. It’s an intriguing inversion of a familiar trope, and one which begs the query: is Josh Hartnett the appropriate actor for this? The teen idol-turned-television star—who, in response to a 2020 interview with the Guardian, credit a 2001 Vanity Fair article with derailing his profession—has been inching towards a comeback within the final 12 months, taking part in each physicist Ernest Lawrence in Oppenheimer and a memorable astronaut in Black Mirror.
